MelodyWorks is a new name on the net and we have only been able to include a
small number of the vast range of instruments that we have, so far. As a main dealer for Pearl we keep a large stock of Export and Fusion kits, representing some of the best kits available at the moment. The quality of the drums and robustness off the hardware can not be beaten We also stock Stagg and other makes to ensure we have the quality, colour and price to suit everyone. Each kit in stock is individually identified to ensure that we can identify and reserve the colour option you want. Please email us straight away to reserve a particular kit and we will respond with a buy now option by email. Alternatively call us - its good to talk! Delivery and AssemblyDrum kits are large heavy items to deliver and the delivery charges have to reflect this, however all kits are sent out on "next working day" delivery. We normally send kits out "in the box" which means there is a small amount of self-assembly required, mainly putting the skins on the drums. If this is likely to be a problem, please contact us before ordering to discuss your needs. It is not normally practical to send kits ready assembled.
Which kit to buy for a beginner?Student drum kits are made by a variety of manufacturers, but are all broadly the same. MelodyWorks only sells kits that we know are well made and are capable of standing up to the battering that they will receive. The kit consists of a bass drum, two mounted toms, a floor tom, side drum, a set of stands including Hi-Hat and a cymbal stand. All our kits also include cymbals and a stool (known as a drum throne). The drums that we sell, from whatever brand you choose, are of good quality and the hardware (stands and fittings) is substantial. We will not sell toy kits or drums that will fall apart after a few months. The skins, however, do tend to be rather basic and we recommend that they are replaced with better quality when they split (which is normal). In this way the kit will improve with time, growing with the players ability. The cymbals supplied with the kit will be fine for a beginner, but this is an area where upgrading will significantly increase the quality of sound the kit produces. We can upgrade the cymbals with your order, but we would generally recommend that younger players build up their collection over time - they always make good birthday presents, and you can't have too many! And a word for the parentsWe are so sorry that your child has decided to take up the drums. We do understand the space (about 4 square feet) and noise can seriously damage the rest of the family and you have our sympathy. Legend has it that Ringo Star was made to practice in a shed at the bottom of the garden. Rest assured that you are being supportive, loving and tolerant in helping your child to play the drums, even though you will not be able to hear their thanks until you remove the ear-plugs. If you really love them, give them an extra cymbal! To be honest, it is not that bad really. However we can supply pads which sit on the drums and reduce the volume significantly. Otherwise we recommend aspirins!
