Welcome to MelodyWorks, a traditional music shop, on the net.

MelodyWorks is the mail order division of a long established music shop, Harmony Music of Dorchester; one of the largest independent general music shops in the country. 

We sell instruments and accessories by the best manufacturers so we know that they are reliable and will stand up the rigours of regular use, whether you are an experienced professional or complete beginner.  We ensure that our staff know the products that we sell so that we can answer technical questions and give good advice; if we don't know the answer we will go and try it!  Above all, we sell products that we are proud of, so that you can trust us.

We take special care with instruments for beginners.  We know that the first instrument you buy is the most critical, but the chances are that you will have very little knowledge with you to make decision.  We ensure that all our instruments are carefully chosen to meet the needs of beginners.  We understand that the budget can be tight, so the perfect instrument may not be affordable.  We have selected some instruments for economy, but will never sell an instrument that is poorly built, or too fragile to last.  In some cases we have found the more economical instruments are actually better than some well respected brands, but we will tell you this in the Buying Advice section on most pages.
